As Costas and Rica both come from Mani in Peloponnese, they decided to get married in a historic church of Inner Mani, the church of Panagia Faneromeni (Our Lady Revealed), which used to be a monastery with a history lost in centuries past.
The churchyard boasts a spring which constitutes a small oasis amidst the arid and rugged landscape. It was a place where passersby, fighters and hunters would stop to rest, a place where young men would flirt with the girls that came to fill their pitchers with fresh water – in another time, as we were told by senior guests at the wedding.
